Choosing the Right Eggs

Firstly it is crucial to select the right type of eggs. The fresher the eggs the better they will taste the easier they will be to cook. If possible choose organic or free-range eggs as they are often of a higher quality.

Preparing the Eggs

Place your eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a pot or saucepan. Add enough cold water to the pot until the eggs are covered by about an inch of water. It is important not to overcrowd the pot as the eggs may not cook evenly.

Boiling the Eggs

Place the pot on the stove turn on the heat to high. Allow the water to come to a rolling boil. Once the water reaches boiling point remove the pot from the heat cover it with a lid.

Timing the Eggs

The length of time you cook your eggs will depend on the desired consistency of the yolk. For soft-boiled eggs with a runny yolk leave the eggs in the hot water for 3-4 minutes. For medium-boiled eggs with a semi-firm yolk leave the eggs in the water for 6-7 minutes. For hard-boiled eggs with a fully cooked yolk leave the eggs in the water for 9-10 minutes.

Cooling Peeling the Eggs

Once your eggs have cooked for the desired amount of time remove the pot from the heat place it under cold running water. The cold water will stop the cooking process make it easier to peel the eggs. Gently tap the eggshell on a hard surface then peel the shell off the egg.

Storing the Eggs

If you are not planning to eat your boiled eggs immediately store them in the refrigerator for up to one week. It is best to store the eggs in their shell to maintain their freshness.

Conclusion
