Step-by-Step Guide: How to Create Folders on Your iPhone

Do you frequently spend minutes scrolling through your iPhone to locate a specific app? Folders in your iPhone can help you tidy up your device make it more organized. You can easily create folders on your iPhone place apps that belong to a specific category or are frequently used in those folders making it more convenient to find what you need. Here’s how to make folders on your iPhone step by step.

Step 1: Unlock Your iPhone Access Your Home Screen

To create folders on your iPhone the first step is to unlock your device access your home screen where all of your applications are stored.

Step 2: Identify the Apps That You Want to Include in Your Folder

Look through your app collection figure out which applications you want to place in your new folder. Grouping your apps by category such as social media applications photo-editing applications or work-related apps can help you stay organized.

Step 3: Hold Down an App Enter “Edit Mode”

Hold down one of the apps that you have selected to create the folder. Tap hold the app in place until all of the apps begin to wiggle. This is known as “edit mode” which allows you to make changes to your app icons’ placement.

Step 4: Drag App Icons on Top of Another App

While still in edit mode drag one of the app icons on top of another app that you want to include in the same folder. You will notice a small bubble appear around the apps that you are positioning indicating that these two apps will be placed in a new folder.

Step 5: Name Your New Folder

After you’ve placed two or more apps together a new folder is created automatically. The folder is not complete until you name it. Tap the field with “New Folder” select a name that represents the category of the apps in the folder.

Step 6: Tap “Done” to Save the New Folder

To complete the creation of your new folder tap “Done” in the top-right corner of the screen. Your new folder will now be saved to your home screen. You can now relocate more apps into the folder even move the position of the folder itself to create a custom organized layout.
