Have you ever wanted to create your own Minecraft server to play with your friends family? It can be a fun exciting experience that could bring you closer together in this virtual world. In this guide we will show you how to make a Minecraft server step by step.

Getting Started

The first thing you need to do is to download the Minecraft server software from the official Minecraft website. You can choose either the Java or Bedrock edition depending on the platform you want to use. If you plan to host the server on your home computer make sure your computer meets the recommended requirements. You will need a high-speed internet connection RAM disk space.

Setting up the Server

Once you’ve downloaded the Minecraft server software create a folder move the downloaded file into it. Then double click the file to run the server. The server will create some configuration files in the same folder that you can customize.

Configuring the Server

To configure the server open the server.properties file in a text editor. Here you can change some settings such as your server name game mode difficulty max players more. You can also configure the server to run various plugins mods.

Port Forwarding

To allow others to connect to your server you need to configure port forwarding on your home router. To do this log in to your router’s settings page look for the Port Forwarding section enter the Minecraft server’s port number (25565). This will allow players outside of your network to connect to your server.

Invite Players

Now that your Minecraft server is up running it’s time to invite players to join. Give them your server’s IP address which can be found by typing “ipconfig” into the commprompt (Windows) or “ifconfig” into the terminal (Mac). They can then connect to your server using your IP address.
