DIY Guide: How to Build a Fletching Table for Archery
Fletching tables are essential for any archer who wants to make their own arrows. A fletching table is a flat surface that allows you to easily attach feathers or vanes to the shaft of an arrow. Materials Needed
Before you begin you’ll need to gather the following materials:
- Plywood (1/2 inch thick)
- Wood screws
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- Paint or stain
- Fletching jig
Step 1: Cut the Plywood
Using a saw cut the plywood into two pieces. The first piece should be 24 inches by 24 inches. This will be the top of the fletching table. The second piece should be 24 inches by 12 inches. This will be the base of the table.
Step 2: Assemble the Table
Using wood screws wood glue attach the two pieces of plywood together. Make sure the screws are flush with the surface of the wood.
Step 3: SPaint
Once the table is assembled use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges. Then paint or stain the table to your desired color.
Step 4: Attach the Fletching Jig
Using wood screws attach the fletching jig to the top of the table. Make sure the screws are flush with the surface of the wood.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Fletching Table
