A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Fillable Forms in Microsoft Word

From there you can set the properties for the content control such as the type of data it will accept the maximum length of the data whether or not it is required.

Step 4: Add Protection

The last step in creating a fillable form in Microsoft Word is to add protection. This will prevent users from making changes to the form that you don’t want them to make. To add protection go to the Developer tab click on the “Protect Document” button. From there you can select the type of protection you want to add such as allowing users to fill out the form but not make changes to it.
